Todorov Since the season of 2004/2005, NAYDEN TODOROV has been a
permanent guest-conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic
Orchestra after having been its guest conductor.
Recently he is the leader of the Opera-Philharmonic
Society in Ruse. He has worked as a conductor with
several Bulgarian orchestras in Vratza, Vidin, Plovdiv,
Bourgas.
He graduated at the High Music School of Plovdiv (1993).
At the age of sixteen he had his debut as conductor,
founded the Plovdiv Youth Orchestra and had with it
several European concert tours. In Bulgaria he studied
conducting with Kr. Marev and Al. Vladigerov. Since 1993
he was a student of U. Lajovic and K. Osterreicher at
the Music University in Vienna; since 1996 he
specialized in conducting at the Rubin Academy of Music
with Mendi Rodan, Music Director of the Israel Symphony
Orchestra. He acquired master degree from the New
Bulgarian University, Sofia (2001) and doctor degree
from the London University (2004).
Maestro Todorov was the recipient of scholarships from
the St. Cyril and St. Methodius International
Foundation, from the chapter of Rotary International –
Vienna (1995-1997), and from the Georg Wachter
Foundation in Switzerland (1996-1998). He won prizes at
the Sv. Obretenov National Competition, the Competition
for Czech music, as well as the Special Prize of the
Slovakian Music Funds, the Borghese Foundation Prize,
the Sdravko Manolov Prize. He has recorded over 100 CDs
and participated in radio and television performances.
He has been a guest at various festivals in Bulgaria,
Austria, Germany, Slovakia, USA.
Bobby Iotzov
BOBBY IOTZOV was born in Sofia. He graduated from the
State Academy of Music in Prof. Sava Dimitrov's clarinet
class in 1990. In he continued his education at the
National Conservatory in Paris (1992-93) and at Duquesne
University, Pittsburgh (1993-94).
At the beginning of the 80s he played as a first
clarinetist with the Pioneer Philharmonic. He is prize
winner of National Young Performers Contest – 1983,
first prize; Prince Philip International Contest in
Brussels – 1990 fourth prize.
After an entrance examination he was engaged as second
clarinetist of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra since
season 1990/1991. Since 1992 he has been a first
clarinetist of the New Symphony Orchestra. He has played
as a clarinetist with the Symphony Orchestra of West
Maryland, USA (1993-1994), as a soloist of Pittsburgh
Symphony Orchestra (1994), as a guest solo clarinetist
of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in Wellington
(1994), as a guest soloist with Opera Massi, Paris
(1995).
Since 1995 he teaches at the National School of Music
and the State Academy of Music – Sofia.
He has composed music for solo clarinet, performed in
Bulgaria and France.
In November 2005 he was the Bulgarian Musicians Union
Crystal Lyre nominee. |
