The performing
art of
Mintcho Mintchev
gained an international acclaim in Italy, Holland,
Switzerland, France, Russia, Hungary, Rumania, Mexico,
Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Turkey
and of course in Bulgaria. He has been prize winner of
international competitions: 1967 – Henryk Wieniawski
(Poland); 1970 – Paganini (Italy) Second prize (First
prize not awarded); 1972 – Carl Flesch (Great Britain);
1974 – First prize, the Prize of the audience and Prize
for best performance of a Beethoven sonata in the Carl
Flesch (Great Britain).
He has performed as soloist with many of the leading
world orchestras – The London Philharmonic Orchestra,
George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra – Bucharest,
Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonic,
etc. He has played with many eminent conductors – among
them Sir Ch. Groves, Sir A. Gibson, Sir N. Mariner, L.
Slatkin, J. E. Gardner, etc. M. Mintchev has a lot of
recordings in Bulgaria and abroad. He has led violin
master classes in Mexico, Cuba, Turkey, Greece,
Macedonia, Slovakia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and
has been a jury member at national and international
competitions. In 1993 he won the Musician of the year
Prize, awarded by the Bulgarian National Radio. Since
1990 he has been a professor at the Folkwang Hochschule
in Essen, Germany.
In 1993 was elected President of the Pancho Vladiguerov
Foundation and Chairman of the violin jury at the Pancho
Vladiguerov International Piano and Violin Competition.
