Internationally acclaimed for their performances and
recordings, the DEBUSSY Quartet is perhaps most
well known for their passionate devotion to the French
repertoire.
In renowned concert
halls from New York to Tokyo they have performed works
of Ravel, Debussy and Fauré, while creating new
audiences for works of their countrymen such as Lalo,
Bonnal and Milhaud.
Founded in 1990, the
Debussy Quartet has established its reputation as one of
the finest quartets touring and recording today by
maintaining a commitment to speak in a unique quartet
voice, eschewing the creation of an international
quartet sound.
They are winners of the prestigious Evian International
String Quartet Competition, and chosen as the Best
Chamber Music Ensemble by the 1996 French Classical
Music Awards (Victoire de la Musique).
Each year, the quartet
performs some 80 concerts in venues such as
Concertgebouw - Amsterdam, Konzerthaus - Berlin, Théâtre
du Châtelet, and Musée du Louvre in Paris.
They also take part in
many international festivals, including Prague Spring,
the European Quartet Week in Cork, Beethovenfest in
Bonn, etc. |
