THE LAUTTEN COMPAGNEY from Berlin is one of the
most renowned German Baroque ensembles, performing in
different chamber orchestral formations that stretch
through to the Baroque opera orchestra.
The repertoire
encompasses works from the period of the 16th to the
18th c.
The musicians put a
special emphasis on an imaginative and multifaceted
realisation of the basso continuo.
In the past years, the
ensemble has performed a series of musical discoveries
and excavations with great success. This has included
the first-ever CD recording of music by G. B. Bononcini,
B. Castaldi, G. Ph. Krieger, M. Locke, as well as
Italian compositions from around 1700 unearthed in the
musical library at Schloss Sondershausen.
Their own productions
of operas by Handel and Purcell have been met with great
success.
Regularly since 2007,
together with the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin have been
performing pieces from the archives in two concert
series.
The Lautten
Compagney's crossover projects serve as a bridge to
modern music.
A stroke of genius was
achieved with Timeless (2009, featuring compositions by
T. Merula from 17th c. and contemporary works by Ph.
Glass. |
