Jonathan Fournel

Born in Sarrebourg in 1993, Jonathan Fournel began the piano at 7, studying with Marianne Henry, at Conservatory of Sarreguemines, and with Stéphane Seban the following year at Conservatory of Strasbourg, while taking private lessons with Patricia Pagny and Gisèle Magnan.

In 2006, he entered the Musikhochschule of Saarbrüken (Germany) in the studio of Robert Leonardy and Jean Micault.
In 2009, he continued his study with Bruno Rigutto, Brigitte Engerer, Claire Désert and Michel Dalberto at the Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP), where he is also majoring in collaborative piano, in the studios of Jean-Frédérique Neuburger.
In 2016, he has been accepted to the Queen Elisabeth Chapel in Brussels with Louis Lortie and Avo Kouyoumdjian.

He attended master-classes with great personalities such as Laurent Cabasso, Aldo Ciccolini, Gisèle Magnan and Jean Micault.

Jonathan Fournel has been participating and awarded prizes and laureate honors in competitions such as the Concours International d’Epinal, Ettore Pozzoli International Piano Competition (2nd Prize), Thomas Kuti Competition (2nd Prize), and Gian Battista Viotti International Piano Competition (1st Prize), Scottish International Piano Competition (1st Prize).

Jonathan Fournel is regularly invited to produce in festivals such as “Les Concerts de Poche”, “Lille Piano Festival”, “ La Folle Journée “, “ La Roque d’Anthéron “, “Piano Campus”, “Festival International de Colmar”, in major halls such as Salle Cortot (Paris), Salle Gaveau (Paris), Gustav Mahler Auditorium (Milano), Sala Verdi (Milano), L’Arsenal (Metz), Carlo Felice Theater (Genova), Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, Usher Hall (Edinburgh), Caird Hall (Dundee).

In 2011, he world-premiered the Sonata n.3 for Piano from the composer Nicolas Bacri, during the festival Pianoscope in Beauvais.

Often invited to perform as a soloist with orchestra, he played with Orchestra of Musikhochschule in Saarbrucken, Symphonistes Européens, Orchestre Universitaire de Strasbourg, Donna Musica Orchestra, Paris Conservatoire Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Zagreb Radio-Television Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Filharmonia Podkarpacka, Royal Wallonie Chamber Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic and Royal Scottish National Orchestra with conductors such as Franck Braley, Éric Darrigrand, Stéphane Denève, Tobias Deutchmann, Pierre-Yves Gronier, Nicola Guliani, Jonathon Heyward, Gergely Madaras, Jacques Mercier, Peter Oundjian, Simon Rigaudeau, Fan Tao, Mladen Tarbuk, Jean-François Verdier and Wojcieck Rajski.

He is also interested in playing the chamber music, he collaborated with musicians and ensembles, such as the musicians, Philippe Cassard, Augustin Dumay, Chi Li, Régis Pasquier, David Petrlik, Vassilena Serafimova, Varèse Quartet, Hermès Quartet, Akilone Quartet and Modigliani Quartet.
He is also interested in playing the chamber music, he collaborated with musicians and ensembles, such as the musicians, Philippe Cassard, Augustin Dumay, Chi Li, Régis Pasquier, David Petrlik, Vassilena Serafimova, Varèse Quartet, Hermès Quartet, Akilone Quartet and Modigliani Quartet.
